Aker Solutions acquires energy tech company Alma and Clara Venture Labs’ engineering business

Aker Solutions acquires 100 percent of the shares in Alma Clean Power AS (“Alma”) from Clara Ventures AS and the Engineering Business Unit of Clara Venture Labs AS (“CVL Engineering”), both indirect wholly owned subsidiaries of Aker ASA.

Alma develops low and zero-emissions energy solutions for maritime applications, specifically within fuel cells. The acquisition includes Alma’s technology portfolio and all the company’s 35 employees, currently based in Bergen, Norway.

CVL Engineering specializes in the development of complex technical solutions and prototypes, and is currently working on several specific engineering projects with Aker BP. The acquisition includes all CVL Engineering’s 17 employees, currently based in Bergen, Norway, in addition to the engineering project portfolio.

“Over the past few years, Aker Solutions has strategically invested in skillsets we believe are essential for the energy projects we see ahead. The expertise within the Alma and CVL Engineering organizations is relevant for the energy transition, and Aker Solutions will now seek to integrate this expertise into our portfolio of energy projects”, says Silje Skarstein, location manager for Aker Solutions Bergen.

The Alma transaction was completed in early September, and the CVL Engineering transaction is expected to close in early October.
