The scope combined marine operations, installation of a nine-leg deepwater mooring system, topside mating and the tow and installation of an approximately 750,000-tonne platform.
All operations had to be executed safely and reliably, supported by robust marine procedures, logistics and contingency planning for a manned tow and offshore campaign.
Our solution comprised six elements:
- Float-up, mooring and float-out from dock of the gravity-based structure
- Installation of the nine-leg deepwater mooring system
- Construction support using barges, cranes, a batch plant, power solutions and crew transportation
- Topside deck mating
- Towing and offshore installation of the platform
- Offshore completion support
Integrated marine procedures and emergency-response planning supported the manned tow and offshore execution.
Aker Solutions also worked with partners to enable cutting of mooring chains without divers, using an ROV-operated subsea guillotine tool.
The integrated delivery model reduced interfaces and execution risk across the project phases, while improving operational reliability and schedule certainty in deepwater offshore conditions.
The ROV-operated chain-cutting solution eliminated the need for divers during that part of the operation, reducing personnel exposure. The coordinated approach brought engineering, marine operations, logistics and offshore execution together to support the platform’s safe tow and installation.
